A party of Glasgow students has just returned from visiting the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. The occasion was the opportunity for the Senior Honours students to present oral arguments to a ‘Grand Chamber’ comprising  Judges and members of the Court Registry (including Section Registrar, Dr Stan Naismith and Registry lawyer, Dr Paul Harvey, both Glasgow graduates). The two-hour hearing was observed by current third year students studying on ERASMUS exchanges across Europe, level 1 ‘Law with French’ students on a study visit to French partner institutions, and other graduates and Council of Europe staff.

The European Human Rights Project is the only one of its kind across the 47 member states of the Council of Europe, and this occasion was the 23rd time that Glasgow students had enjoyed the opportunity to participate.
